The compensation offered to newly recruited individuals has been the focus of recent attention. Statistics provided by the National Bureau of Statistics reveal that from January to February, retail sales of services, primarily in the transportation, catering, and entertainment sectors, increased by 12.3% year-on-year. This substantial growth has driven an increase in recruitment for talent in the services sector, which has resulted in correspondingly higher salaries.
The Guagnzhou headhunter Zhaopin report further highlights that the starting salary for hotel and catering jobs rose by 10.6% in the first quarter on the platform, maintaining the upward trend observed in the preceding quarters. Similarly, job opportunities in the tourism and leisure sectors also experienced a 9.3% increase in starting salaries over the quarter.
Mr. Li Qiang, vice-president of Guangzhou headhunter Zhaopin, stated, "The recruiting salary in the finance sector remains stable. Additionally, sectors such as smart manufacturing, new energy, and professional services and consultancy are offering high and stable compensation to their newly recruited employees." He further explained that while starting salaries may experience periodic fluctuations, they are also influenced by policies, the state of the economy, industrial development, and labor supply. He speculated that the slight decrease in salaries compared to the previous quarter could be attributed to the trend of individuals changing jobs in the first quarter.
The Zhaopin report also indicates that the nation's economy is experiencing overall recovery and growth, with some macro policies yielding positive results and people's consumption demands gradually recovering. This trend is prompting job seekers to adjust their salary expectations based on market and industry changes.
Regarding the job market, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security reported that 3.03 million individuals found employment in urban areas during the first quarter, an increase of 60,000 year-on-year. Furthermore, employers have been actively hiring more personnel, indicating a stable job market.
